Malcesine

On the eastern coast of the Garda Lake, there is a small fascinating medieval village: Malcesine. This town, inhabited by the Romans and then exposed to the barbaric invasions, was deeply appreciated by the famous German poet, Wolfgang Göhte, and by the popular painter Gustav Klimt. Point of attraction in Malcesine is the castle scaligero, important evidence of the architecture of Verona, from where it’s possible to enjoy breathtaking views on the Lake and on the medieval village. Malcesine can boast a long and great sailing tradition, supported by the sailing clubs, training the best Olympic class skippers, and strengthened by the several competitions taking place on the Garda Lake: "Centomiglia" and "Intervela", regattas which have been held for 50 years. The strong wind blowing here gave birth to many schools of windsurfing and surf-hires as well. Malcesine lies at the foot of Monte Baldo, one of the most beautiful natural environments of the Alps, a wonderful terrace looking on to the Garda Lake, a paradise for excursionists, mountain climbers and trippers allover the year, very easy to reach thanks to the cable way. This modern cable-car station on the valley, with its great car park and elevators, makes the voyage easier also to unfit people. It is also possible to transport paragliders, and to try the light pleasure of a parapenting flight or the exciting and fresh feeling of a hang gliding flight.
